QXO launches annual QXO Veterans Program, providing free roof restoration for veterans and their families

Remembrance Day invites us to honour and reflect on the experiences of Canada’s military veterans, and to commemorate the solemn occasion, QXO has ignited its largest effort yet to ensure veterans have a safe, reliable roof overhead.

On November 11, QXO announced the launch of its annual QXO for Veterans Program, giving back to those who have served their country by donating and installing brand-new roofs, completely free of charge.

Since its start in 2018, the initiative has worked hand-in-hand with local roofing contractors and suppliers to deliver more than 60 roofs for those who have served, their families, and organizations that provide supports for veterans.

Addressing housing: A key concern for veterans

Homelessness among veterans remains a serious concern. As of March 2025, The Government of Canada estimates that approximately 2,600 veterans are at risk or experiencing homelessness in Canada, though that number could reach as high as 10,000.

Numerous studies and statistical analysis have found that, compared to civilians, veterans are more likely to experience homelessness. While the two populations may face similar challenges – including lack of affordable housing, job loss or instability, health problems, and family and marital issues – trading a regimented lifestyle for a more civilian one can be isolating, deepening the effects of existing mental health struggles.

Initiatives like the Veteran Homelessness Program, the Homes For Heroes Foundation and Veterans’ House Canada are diligently working to improve the lives of veterans across the country by providing housing, along with wrap-around services like mental health supports and financial assistance.

As experts in shelter, QXO is proud to do our part by restoring roofs for veterans, creating a safe, stable and comfortable home environment for them and their families.

How to submit a nomination

Nominations for the QXO Veterans Program officially opened on November 11 and will run until December 17, 2025. The program welcomes submissions from military veterans, families of fallen servicemen and women, and veteran’s organizations in both Canada and the U.S.

Submissions should include three photos of the roof in question, and one photo of the veteran being nominated, along with details on why you, your nominee or veteran organization deserves a roof replacement. Nominations can be submitted through QXO’s website go.qxo.com/qxoforveterans or via email at QXOforVeterans@QXO.com.

A panel of judges, including QXO executives and veterans, the publishers of Roofers Coffee Shop and Roofing Contractor, as well as executives from GAF, will review all submissions and select 13 winners. Each will receive new roofs, installed by local professionals using TRI-BUILT® products and materials from GAF, the 2026 exclusive partner for the program.
